500 Mini Training



 Good morning readers!

So as I said in my previous blog post on Sparkpeople one of my goals to accomplish in the next year is to complete the 500 Festival Mini Marathon. I'm not going to put a stipulation of "I'm going to run the whole thing" or "I'm going to complete it in an hour and a half" but I want to be able to just do it.

Right now I'm looking at the positives, what I already have going for me.

            I can jog a mile and a half

            I can walk about 6 miles in one stint

            I have one, maybe two people willing to make the trek with me

So I'm not starting from nothing. My goal is to walk and/or jog 3-4 times a week adding distance along the way. And eventually make it to the 13.1 mile marker. If things going super well I thought about maybe adding more mileage so 13.1 won't be as far as the furthest I've gone.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Baby steps first! Yesterday I went to our local park and walked about 4.5 miles. And I'm feeling it today! My knees are definitely not thanking me! If anyone as any joint health information I would love to hear it! My ankles and knees are going to need some extra love.

So today will be upper body strength training and extra stretching and some low impact cardio. Tomorrow is a rest day. And Saturday will be another walk.
