Now I know you all read the title and were like cherry crisp?! Aren't you trying to become a gazelle!? And to that I would say yes! I actually made this along side the Chicken and Stuffing Casserole.
Which was super yummy! And you all should make it! Tonight!
Anyways, now that the weather has finally turned cooler I thought a little fall dessert was completely in order. Now usually I would make a homemade fruit filling but I had some canned stuff that needed to be used and this is what I came up with!
First off you'll need a can of cherry pie filling, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter
And you'll of course remember to take a picture of the ingredients
Instead of Still life of Camera case and baking sheet.
In a greased dish spread out the pie filling evenly
Then in a seperate bowl measure out flour, browns sugar, and oats
I'm sure you noticed white sugar in there. Please don't be like me and make sure you have all of the right ingredients! This did turn out as good as it usually does and I suspect its the brown sugar.
Next time though, after the wedding that is.
Add in a scant teaspoon of cinnamon
And about a 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
Then in goes the butter
And give a good mix combining all of the crumble ingredients. Looks gross. Is delicious!
Bake until nice, hot, bubbly
My family snarffed this down along with an entire party pail of ice cream. You would have to know my family to understand.
Well friends, we'll be back with Wedding Wednesday tomorrow! For some reason I thought it was today and started to panic!
I hope you have a good evening! Hold your families close and tell them you love them!
Cara
Simple Cherry Crisp
- 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1/3 cup melted margarine
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 2 quart baking dish. Pour pie filling into the dish, and spread evenly.
- In a medium bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix in melted margarine. Spread over pie filling, and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until topping is golden brown. Allow to cool 15 minutes before serving.
*Please note that I did not follow this recipe completely! Both ways work just fine!
