Life is full of sweet surprises

A few weeks ago I was sharing a typical lunch of a chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries with my fiance. And as we were talking he out of the blue said we should have another date day. Since we basically only see each other on the weekends I completely jumped all over the idea. And to my surprise he had already been thinking about some stuff himself.

First off, a man planning out a date ahead of time is pretty awesome. And then on top of that he told me that he wasn't going to tell me where we were going!

To me that takes the cake, a surprise date! To tell you the truth I am a planner. I like to do and have things written out 3 weeks ahead of time so for this to be completely a surprise but kinda hard!

But he did a super job and I am so pleased with him! When he came to pick me up yesterday morning he informed me that we would be touring Brown County. It's full of little shops and eaterys. A really lovely place for a rainy, fall day.

Many of the shops had products from local farms. It was so hard not to by one of each! Not only were there jams and jellies but also different spice mixes, BBQ sauces, and hot sauces. One of them was literally vinegar and capsasian. Literally what they make pepper spray out of!

One jam that caught my eye was F.R.O.G jam. Fig, Raspberry, Orange, and Ginger! I am so kicking myself for not buying a jar!

So instead of buying a jar of jam we bought a bag of dirt.

Yes, a bag of dirt.

They had a cute rock and gem shop set up along the main street and we stopped to search for some treasure! I must admit it was a lot more fun than I though it would be!

This was everything that we found. A lot of quartz and rose quarts as well as some fools gold.

By lunch time I was starving and I must say almost anything sounded good. We agreed on this pizza/sandwich place. It was pretty good!

We both got subs, a pickle, and some chips. I told Ethan he could have part of my sandwich and then continued to snarf down the whole thing.

I kinda sorta felt bad.

Kinda.

Has anyone seen pop bottle? They are so cool lookin'! I just had to take a picture.

Here's some funky moss. It was super soft and right outside of the sock shop.

It rained a tiny bit in the morning. The day was so perfect for strolling around. Cool and cloudy!

Most of the shops were full to the brim with just stuff! Most of the time if a house is like this, it kills me but a shop? Bring it on! This one in particular had a ton of stuff that I would have scooped up.

They were totally ready for Halloween and fall!

This place was right across from the church where we parked and I knew, knew, that we MUST stop and try the gelato!

Neither of us had had gelato before and we had heard that this shop was amazing.

And believe me we were not disappointed!

The sweets lined the walls! These are various flavors of caramel corn. Super pretty! I'm sure they tasted awesome too!

Wedding diet or no I was not leaving without nonpareils. They are staying at the fiance's house though!

And of course the whole reason we entered the shop! Gelato! Folk, try gelato. Try it tomorrow! Seriously!

The darker gelato is chocolate and the lighter is Tiramesu. I really wanted some mango but I didn't think that Tiramesu was really a great combo. So I took the advice of the gelato lady and paired it with the chocolate.

Friends, so good! We will be going back and getting some more!

I took so many pictures I decided to break the day into a two part blog posts.

I know what you are thinking... you did more on your suprise date? Yes! There were a few more stops!

So until tomorrow readers,

Cara
